Bugs in Our Curtains and Blinds

Here is some advice given by one of our loyal suppliers, Amazing Clean Toowong, on the types of bugs in our curtians and blinds.

There are two kinds of bugs in blinds and curtains – the creepy crawly ones and those that can make us sick. You may be surprised at the evidence of bug infiltration when taking a close look at the very top of fabric and in the head boxes. We close the window furnishings  at night to stop strangers looking in and to keep warm, but then flying insects, moths and cockroaches enter to keep warm and breed, leaving their droppings on the fabric. In the morning we get up, open the blinds and the bugs get rolled up as well and stay there forever. Depending on the blind type and fabric, those squashed bugs encourage bacteria to grow, collect dust and stain or corrode the material. The mould and bacteria that grows then spreads and releases spores into the air. These spores can make us sick and aggravate asthma and allergies. All we need to do to keep in control of these germs is dust or vacuum the fabric once a week and have them professionally cleaned once a year, the same routine as your carpets.
